DMACS

The Discharge Management of Acute Coronary Syndromes (DMACS) project is a national quality improvement initiative funded and supported by the National Prescribing Service.

Release of the first Post-Intervention Feedback Report - October 2009

Over recent months, hospital-based project teams in NSW have been recruiting patients to include in the post-intervention data collection for DMACS. Recruitment of patients for this phase of the project is now complete and the first of the post-intervention feedback reports has been released. Hospital-based project teams are to be congratulated for the many improvements exemplified in this report.

Over the next two months, General Practitioner (GP) Survey reports and Post-Discharge Patient Telephone Survey Reports are to be released. These reports will inform hopitals in the quality of communications received by GPs at discharge and prescription of and adherence to guideline recommended medications.

Post-Intervention Data Collection - April 2009

After having identified areas to improve on, and the development of tools to achieve improvement during the educational intervention, hospitals have begun recruitment of patients for the post-intervention data collection phase. Hospitals will recruit up to 50 patients over a period of four months from April to July. Recruitment will involve a review of medical records, a patient telephone survey 3 months post discharge and a GP survey. With the implementation the various new tools, hospitals hope to see better outcomes for patients.
