Information for CIAP representatives

Effective communication between NSW Health and clinicians is pivotal to the success of CIAP.

A CIAP representative is an experienced nurse, doctor or allied health professional who has an understanding of clinical information requirements and who acknowledges the critical nature of quality information in the delivery of patient care. The representative has effective communication skills and a willingness to distribute information about the CIAP to all categories of clinicians within their Area Health Service (AHS).

Responsibilities of CIAP Representatives

• Act as the liaison between the NSW Health, Clinical Informatics Representatives and clinicians in the Area Health Services to communicate information regarding the CIAP.
• Participate in marketing of the CIAP through distribution of printed material, co-ordinating presentations and promotion of listservers as a communications tool.
• Utilise existing AHS committee structures to communicate CIAP information to clinicians.
• Promote an information culture within the AHS by communicating the value of information in terms of quality care and efficient, cost effective management.
• Act as a resource person to clinicians to assist with meeting their clinical information needs.
• Consult with the AHS Executive and Clinical Informatics Representative to develop strategies to address major issues reported by clinicians in relation to the CIAP.
• Co-ordinate the collection of CIAP data to determine future requirements and to evaluate the effectiveness/impact of the CIAP.
