The new HCS incorporates all features/functionality of the old HCS, plus several important enhancements

  • An Interface, compliant with the common look and feel (CLF) of other Thomson Healthcare products.
  • Improved Keyword (Integrated Index) Searching.
  • A Persistent Document Outline.
  • Compare Drug Summaries: Presentation of DrugPoints® content for two or more selected drugs in a side-by-side tabular format.
  • A Therapeutic Classes list feature that allows users to navigate up and down the drug class tree (content from Redbook™ file, organized by the MICROMEDEX class structure). This feature is designed to help users find drugs in a given therapeutic class or find drugs in a different class. Users have the ability to select several drugs from the list and view them in the Compare Drug Summaries feature, or to view the drug summary/point for a single drug.
  • New Specific Topic Search: Full-Text Search by Document Section.
  • Labs: A new database to aid in interpreting and managing clinical laboratory test information.
  • Multiple & Single Drug Interactions interfaces revised to enhance usability.
  • Trade/generic drug product list (DRUGDEX & MARTINDALE): new tabular results display is easier to read.
  • Toxic Substance List: new tabular results display for searches on product names, active ingredients, imprint codes is easier to read.
  • Images incorporated into drug identification (IDENTIDEX®) and a new complementary Drug Identification tool that allows users to search on physical characteristics (shape, color, and pattern), as well as Imprint Code and NDC Code.
  • The IV Compatibility interface is significantly revised to enhance use, along with the incorporation of Trissell’s 2 data.>
  • Page-sensitive help offered as part of the new interface.
  • Print and Printer Friendly functions included.
