Workshops and training

When you join the EBP Network, you will be required to undergo training that is based on the EBP Network's Resource Package. Training may be provided by the Steering Committee at yearly workshops, or by distance education via the clinical group leader. For details of these workshops, please contact

Training includes orientation to the EBP Network's goals and procedures, ensuring consistency of approach across Network participants throughout the State.

The workshops

The workshops are designed for prospective members of the EBP Network. Whilst there is, of course, training in carrying out evidence-based practice, much of the focus is on the structure of the EBP Network, its procedures and its systems. This ensures consistency of approach across EBP Network participants throughout the State.

Participants in the workshop are then expected to join Clinical Groups and to provide feedback through the structure, as required.

The training takes 2.5 hours. The Steering Committee may be able to arrange extra workshops for speech pathologists in Area Health Services in NSW, provided its costs are met (transport, photocopying, refreshments, etc). It does not provide education in evidence-based practice unless it is in accordance with the objectives of the EBP Network.

A brief (half-hour) presentation on the EBP Network and its objectives is available to departments requiring more general background.
